What is Naruto Shippuuden?

Naruto Shippuuden (ナルト疾風伝: litterally Naruto Hurricane Chronicles) is a continuation of the anime/manga Naruto, written and drawn by Masashi Kishimoto. Naruto Shippuuden takes place approximately 2 and 1/2 years after the time the first episode of naruto took place in. It is still ongoing, although Naruto's headband is seen on a grave with Sakura and Kakashi crying next to it in the trailer for the fourth Naruto movie, which is being released in theaters August 4, 2007. The main difference between Shippuuden and Part 2 is that Shippuuden is the anime and Part 2 is the manga.

Bell Training Arc

The series starts with Naruto returning to Konoha from his 2 1/2 years of training with Jiraiya (or as Naruto calls him, Ero-Sennin). Naruto is, as usual, running around excited when he finds out that he had been assignes a mission with Sakura. Tsunade hints that they'll be going on the mission with one more person, but won't say who. As Shikamaru and Temari walk in, Naruto asks them both if they're going on a mission. Shikamaru answers no, and Temari gets mad at Naruto for forgetting her name. Tsunade then reveals that the other person on the mission was Hatake Kakashi. Naruto sees this as a good chanceto give his sensei the next book in his favorite series (not yet out in stores.), Icha Icha Tactics. Tsunade tells the three to get some rest, as the mission would be a very difficult one.

At night, Kakashi explains to Naruto and Sakura that the mission was simple: retreive the bells from him. Unlike the Genin Exam, the point of this mission was to actually get the bells. Time limit: until dawn.

Kakashi and the kids fought until Naruto and Sakura were thoroughly exhausted. Then Naruto came up with a plan.

Naruto and Sakura tracked Kakashi down. When Naruto threatened to spoil the ending of Icha Icha Tactics, Kakshi had to cover his ears and close his eyes because he could read Naruto's lips with Sharingan. Because of this, Sakura was able to walk up to Kakashi and take the bells unnoticed.

After the 'mission', Kakashi announced that he would be forming a team with Naruto and Sakura again. He also said that Team Kakashi's first mission would be assigned tomorrow.

Rescue Gaara Arc

In Sunagakure, Deidara and Sasori, two Akatsuki members, make their way into the village in search of Gaara. Yuura, who was recently discussing Akatsuki with the Sunagakure Elders, turns out to be a spy for Sasori. Deidara goes off to fight Gaara alone while Sasori guards the entrance.

After Deidara and Sasori leave with Gaara, Kankurou attempts to stop the Akatsuki members alone, but his puppets are easily destroyed by Sasori, who reveals himself to be the maker of Kankuro's puppets. Sasori poisons Kankuro in the process, leaving him to die. The Akatsuki duo take Gaara back to their lair, where their leader summons a large statue to extract and seal Gaara's bijuu, the ichibi Shukaku. This sealing ritual takes three days and nights.

Upon hearing of Gaara's kidnapping, Team Kakashi is sent to Sunagakure on a mission with Temari, who is in Konoha to help with the Chunin Exam. On the way, Naruto tells Sakura and Temari that he is the host of the kyuubi and that Akatsuki is after the bijuu inside Gaara. After learning this she vows to do everything she can to protect Naruto from being a victim of Akatsuki. Temari is thankful that there is someone who can understand what Gaara has gone through, and she's grateful to Naruto for changing Gaara and attempting to save him.

At Sunagakure, Sakura extracts the poison in Kankurou's body. By analyzing the poison, she creates an antidote for Sasori's poisons. Meanwhile, at Konoha, Tsunade sends Team Gai to the Akatsuki HQ as backup, with Pakkun as a guide. At the same time, Team Kakashi, along with the respected elder Chiyo, also leave Sunagakure Akatsuki HQ.

On the way, Team Gai and Pakkun and Team Kakashi and Chiyo met up with Hoshigaki Kisame and Uchiha Itachi, respectively. As Gai and his team fought with Kisame (who was trying to make Gai remember who he was), Kakahi's team fought with Itachi. Finally, Gai defeats Kisame with a techinique that required him to open his sixth gate, the Morning Peacock, and Naruto kills Itachi with his improved version of Rasengan, Oodama Rasengan (Great Ball Rasengan), only for both teams to find out that the 'Itachi' was acually Yuura in disguise, and 'Kisame' was an unidentified subordinate of Sasori

At the entrance of Akatsuki HQ, they the two teams found out that a massive boulder was blocking the entrance. When Gai tried to destroy the boulder, the shinobi found out that the boulder was protected by a barrier. After the barrier and boulder were removed, the Konoha ninja found Deidara standing in front of them. Deidara identified Naruto as the jinchuuriki in the group, him being the one who charged and screamed first. As predicted, Naruto ran right at Deidara and yelled, " I'M GONNA KILL YOU!"

Meanwhile, as a result of removing the barrier, the four members of Team Gai faced four enemies: mirror images of themselves, looking the same, and with the same techniques!

Deidara left Akatsuki HQ with Gaara, with Naruto and Kakashi chasing him. Sakura and Chiyo stayed behind to fight Sasori. Sasori fully revealed to Sakura that he, in fact, was occupying a puppet's body.

Sakura, Chiyo, and Sasori put up an intense fight. Chiyo summons Sasori's parents to fight Sasori's Sandaime Kazekage. The Kazekage scratches Sakura, thus infecting her with poison. Sakura uses her antidote, then feints infection to lure the Kasekage puppet and destroy it.

Sasori reveals himself to be a puppet and uses Red Secret Technique: Performance of 100 Puppets while Chiyo uses White Secret Technique: Ten Puppet Collection of Chikamatsu. Sakura destroys all of the puppets but one, and uses a chakra sealing orb on Sasori. Sasori escapes just in timeto animate the body of the one intact puppet and impales Sakura with a poisoned sword. In the end, however, it was a trap for "Mother" and "Father" to stab Sasori through the heart, much like the embrace that Sasori craved. Chiyo heals Sakura and pulls the sword out. To keep her from dying from the fatal wound, Chiyo uses Secret Tecnique: Give Life to a Lifeless Puppet. This technique was originally developed for Sasori, and it transfers Chiyo's life force into another puppet. As a result, Chiyo would die if she ever used this on a dead object, but Sakura was still alive, so Chiyo was able to hang on. Sakura awakens and uses the last of the antidote. Sasori, because he was a human, no matter how much of him was artificial, decided to do something stupid for a change. He told Sakura that he and Orochimaru were supposed to meet at the bridge between the Rock and Grass villages (the one that Kakashi was supposed to destroy 16 years ago) and rendevous there.

Meanwhile, Lee found out that the 'copies' had duplicated their exact abilities at the time they broke the barrier. So, they only had to become stronger than they were before by living up to Gai's motto: Stronger Than the You of Yesterday. Tenten, Lee, Gai, and Neji destroy their copies using Rising Dragon Rain, Full Power of Youth, Leaf Pummeling, and Eight Trigrams: Mountain Destroyer, respectively.

Kakashi and Naruto have also found out the way to destroy their opponent. Naruto comments on Kakashi as Kakashi awakens his Mangekyou Sharingan. Kakashi misses, but then tries again. He aims for Deidara's head but gets the remaining arm.

Team Gai finally catches up, and gets into a fight with Deidara. Deidara sees himself about to lose and swallows a bunch of clay, making him blow up. Kakashi then warps the explosion that otherwise would have leveled the entire forest to another dimension.

Sakura walks up to Gaara and confirms him dead. Chiyo uses Give Life to a Lifeless Puppet with the help of Naruto's Chakra to bring Gaara back to life, in turn dropping dead. Gaara wakes up to all his people waiting for him in the meadow in which Deidara blew up. The Konoha Ninja say goodbye to the Sand Village and go home.

Meeting Yamato and Sai

As Kakashi is in the hospital and Sasuke in the sound village, Team Kakashi needs more members. Danzo, the man who founded Root, a part of the ANBU organization, chose a person codenamed "Sai" to replace Sasuke. Kakashi and Tsunade consulted and agreed on a student of Kakashi when he was in the ANBU codenamed "Yamato". At first, Sai attacks Naruto while he was chatting with Shikamaru and Chouji, and denies that Naruto really even has a penis. Naruto gets really ticked off at this and refuses to work with Sai when Yamato requires him to.

Meeting Orochimaru

Naruto and his team go to the Ground and Sky Bridge to wait for Sasori's spy. The spy, however, is revealed to be Kabuto Yakushi (Suprise, Suprise!). Kabuto destroys Yamato's makeshift Hiruko, and Orochimaru appears...
